"DEvelopment SUpport for RUral Areas - EU4Us"

The EU4US project proposes to support regional development through the preservation of traditional crafts and products and by fostering intercultural dialogue among vulnerable groups. Crafts play an important role in the European economy by providing vital products and services for their local communities and creating jobs all over Europe. Additionally, the field of traditional crafts and products not only provides an alternative to unemployment, but also has tremendous importance for rural tourism and sustainable development. Due to a complex of factors they confront a wide range of difficulties: access to information, finance, protection, valorization of their work, the right skills for all aspects of the business etc. Therefore, specific efforts to support their development are essential not only for regional or national but also for European growth. The project represents an opportunity to improve the competitiveness of crafts in the Single Market, to identify challenges and to provide input to help the sector to better take advantage of the business opportunities offered by the Single Market and to adapt business to future needs. Communities and people in socially and economically disadvantaged areas will benefit from the results of the project in order to develop viable economic activities, especially in the field of traditional crafts and products, thus improving the economic situation and social integration.
